Sources

In this page, I want to share with you the sources that have been part of my process finding my superhuman power.

Authors

I speak English, but my emotions and feelings work in Spanish. That’s why most of the authors I read or listen to are Spanish speakers, however, you still can find their sources in English.

Marian Rojas Estapé

Marian is a Spanish psychiatrist specializing in emotional management for achieving well-being. For Marian, mind and body are the necessary tools to understand the behavior and illnesses that we develop as a result of the emotional management we carry out.

She was one of my first inspirational persons when I built my mental health path. Her talks on YouTube were my company in those moments where I needed to find answers about my way of feeling. Her books: “How to Make Good Things Happen” and “Find Your Vitamin Person,” were inspirational for my personal evolution.

Marian has influenced several things about who I am today – like the daily consumption of Omega 3, for example. Her talks, podcasts, and books have helped me to think deeply about my own actions and the management of my emotions.

Mario Alonso Puig

Dr. Mario Alonso Puig is a Spanish medical doctor and neurologist who is recognized for his research in human intelligence. He is an expert in positive psychology, motivation, leadership, and change management. And is also considered one of the most prestigious speakers in the business world – at least for Spanish speakers.

If I want to consult someone about what appropriate human behavior should be, I consult Puig, since his expertise gives me credibility, and has helped me become aware of how my mind works and how human beings function.

Entre sus libros, recomiendo leer: “Reinventing Yourself”, and if you understand Spanish:  “Ahora Yo” (Now I), and “Resetea tu Mente” (Reset your mind).

Walter Riso

Walter Riso is a doctor in psychology, writer, and speaker, who has published around 30 books, including technical and popular texts, which have had the purpose of “creating a vaccine against human suffering”, proposing a guideline to understand and improve our lives in different aspects.

I would say that this author’s role in my life has been to help me connect with my self-love – the first step to start creating the life you desire – and among his books, if you understand Spanish, my favorites are: “Enamórate de ti” (Fall in love with yourself), “El coraje de ser quien eres” (The courage to be who you are), and “El derecho a decir no” (The right to say no).

Documentaries

Usually, I’m not a person who watches movies or TV shows. And although I don’t do it all the time, one of my favorite plans – plans with myself – is to watch documentaries or movies that add to my life. Here, some of my favorite ones.

Heal

Healing is the word that describes a consciousness awakening. And the awakening of consciousness is what helps us heal. Since I understood that the reason why for a long time my cystitis problem was related to the frustration I felt with my partner at that time, I understood that our body is directly connected to our emotions, and that by listening to it and healing the emotion that represents that part of your body, you heal your illness too. That is the message of Heal documentary.

Brené Brown: The Call to Courage

I always believed that being a very emotional person who easily lets their vulnerability be seen was weak. However, after watching this documentary my perception about myself and my vulnerability changed.

Brown encourages us to embrace discomfort, to be intentional about love and belonging, and to be grateful for the moments that bring joy. Brown also discusses misconceptions about vulnerability, such as: shame, fear, and anxiety; emphasizing the importance of being open and honest – something that characterizes the posts on this blog.

With this documentary, you will relearn that allowing yourself to be vulnerable is truly being brave and answering ‘The Call to Courage’.

Fantastic Fungi

In search of answers and elements to reconnect deeply with myself, I came across with this documentary on Netflix, which delves into the magical, mysterious, and medicinal world of fungi, exploring their power to heal, sustain, and contribute to the regeneration of life on Earth.

Fantastic Fungi’ offers an in-depth overview of the biology and environmental roles, and various uses of fungi, showcasing their significance in addressing medical, therapeutic, and environmental challenges.

Books

In this section I share with you the most significant books that made a special ‘click’ in my life, meaning that there is a ‘before’ and ‘after’ on me, after having read them.

The Power of Now

This book taught me to live in the present moment, and to find meaning in the little things that happen every day. Through his book, Tolle teach us how to be grateful for the small battles that life presents to us, and to understand the message behind each of them.

The power of Now is a representation of how to achieve communication with our universal reality, in order to connect with “the indestructible essence of our Being”.

Kintsugi: The Japanese Art of Embracing the Imperfect and Loving your Flaws

This book talks about the technique that the Japanese use to put back together what has been broken. For example, when a piece of ceramic breaks, Kintsugi masters repair it by filling the cracks with gold or silver, thus highlighting the ‘reconstruction’, and thus adding value to the piece.

In his book, Tomás Navarro teaches us to apply this art in our lives, recognizing that everyone faces suffering, but how we engage with our troubles and heal our emotional wounds can make all the difference, because even though a reconstructed piece is a symbol of fragility, it is also strength and beauty.

The Four Agreements

This transformative book embraces four principles based on ancient Toltec Wisdom: 1. Be Impeccable with Your Word, 2. Don’t Take Anything Personally, 3. Don’t Make Assumptions, and 4. Always Do Your Best; that when you include them in your practical life, you start looking at the reality that surrounds you as an opportunity to see the steps you need to take in life to connect with your true potential.

In short, The Four Agreements works a manual life to strength your relationships with others, and create a more positive and thriving work environment.
